Register to Vote

  1.  To register to vote, you need to fill out a Voter Registration Form and provide proof of your citizenship, age, primary residence address (domicile), and identity in paper or electronic form.

    Some examples of proof:

    US Citizenship – Birth Certificate showing birth in the US, US Passport, naturalization papers

    Identity and Age – driver’s license, government-issued photo ID

    NH Residence – photo ID with current NH address listed, rental agreement or utility bill listing current NH address, a note signed by a New Hampshire school official

    If you do not have the necessary proof, you can sign an affidavit form provided by your local election official. In elections, an affidavit is a written statement sworn to or affirmed before an election official, notary public, or justice of the peace.

  2.  Register at your local town/city clerk's office up to 6 to 13 days before the election.  

  3. Register with your local supervisors of the checklist.  By law, the supervisors meet once, 6 - 13 days before each state election.  Check your town/city website or call your clerk's office for the date, time, and location of the supervisor's meeting. 

  4. Register at your polling place on election day.
