Minor-Major Permit Definitions
MINOR PERMIT: Consist of smaller projects that, by the current code, would still require a building permit. See examples below, but not limited to these examples:
- Replace a door or window header, making larger or smaller- altering the structure.
- Light framing
- Re-building a staircase
- Repairing a roof rafter, ridge pole or minor structure repairs due to damage or maintenance needs.
- Sill repairs
- Kitchen or bathroom remodels not requiring major structural changes.
MAJOR PERMIT: Consist of larger projects. See examples below, but not limited to these examples:
- Gut the interior of a home.
- Major structural repairs
- Jacking, lifting, raising homes or larger structures
- Adding dormers, additions
- Changing a roof line or pitch, exterior walls or major interior framing which affects structure.
