New Activities This Year!
Two new activities are being added to the Barnstead Old Home Day this year: an Art and Photography Contest and a Youth Variety Show.
The new Art and Photography Contest will give area artists a chance to take part in the Old Home Day community event. There are three categories for this contest. The Coloring Contest is for budding artists under the age of 10. The Art Contest is for original paintings or drawings and will have two age categories: 10-18 years old and adults (over 18 years old). The Photography Contest is for original photographs and it will also have the two age categories of 10-18 years old and adult.
The coloring page and registration forms for the Art and Photography Contest can be downloaded from the town website at www.barnstead.org/About Barnstead, click on Old Home Day. The coloring page and the registration forms can also be picked up at Town Hall or at the Summer Band Concerts (Saturday evenings at Barnstead Parade). Contest entries can be dropped off at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library on August 16 from 5-8 p.m., August 17 from 2-5 p.m. and August 18th from 9-11 a.m. Entries must be received by August 18. All entries will be displayed at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library during the week of August 20 -- come vote for your favorite in the People's Choice Category. The winning entries will be unveiled at Old Home Day on August 25.
Barnstead Old Home Day is looking for performers for the first annual Old Home Day Youth Variety Show. If you can sing, dance juggle, play an instrument or otherwise entertain us, we can offer you fame, prizes, and your very own 15 minutes (or so) of fame. Entrants must be under age 18 and at least one performer from each act must reside in Barnstead. The show is scheduled for Old Home Day, August 25 at 4 p.m. at Barnstead Parade Grounds.
All acts for the Youth Variety Show must be of a "family oriented" nature. Shirts, shoes and appropriate clothing are required. Youth performers will require signed parental permission. Registration forms can be obtained from the town website, as described above, from Town Hall and at the Summer Band Concerts.
