Barnstead Old Home Day
Something Old and Somethings New

It is, once again, time to nominate candidates for Barnstead Citizen of the Year.  Do you know a Barnstead resident whose contributions to our community are commendable and noteworthy?  We want to know about this person!  The Barnstead Old Home Day Committee is seeking nominations for Barnstead's 2007 Citizen of the Year.

The title "Barnstead's Citizen of the Year" simply means that the nominee must be a resident of town who contributes to our community and, through their efforts and activities, our town is a better place for us all to live.  All nominations will be accepted and reviewed by a group of judges.

To nominate a candidate for Barnstead Citizen of the Year, we request the following information:  candidate's name, a description of their contributions to our community, a summary of the activities/organizations that they have been involved with, your name and address.

Please submit nominations to Barnstead Citizen of the Year, P.O. Box 11, Center Barnstead, NH 03225 or by email to oldhomeday@barnstead.org.  All nominations must be received by August 6, 2007.

This year, we are adding two new features to Old Home Day -- a Photo/Art Contest and a Youth Talent Show.  The Photo/Art Contest will allow town residents to submit their photos and artwork for consideration by a panel of judges.  Entries will be judged by age groups.  There will also be a coloring contest for the kids.  All entries will be displayed at the Oscar Foss Memorial Library on August 16, 17, 18, 2007.  The winning entries will be displayed on Old Home Day at the Parade Grounds.

We are looking for performers of all talents to enter our first ever Old Home Day Youth Talent Show.  If you are eighteen or younger and can sing, dance, play an instrument or have any other musical talent, we want you to perform at Old Home Day.  We are not the Barnstead chapter of American Idol, so there will be no judging.  But, if you just want to showcase your talents, this is the place to do it!

For more information on the Photo/Art Contest and the Youth Talent Show, visit the Old Home Day page of the Barnstead website at www.barnstead.org/About Barnstead
